“I love the way you sing. You're yourself, which makes you an original singer. Your phrasing is perfection”
Tony Bennett

Acclaimed Australian jazz vocalist and songwriter Gregg Arthur has built a three-decade

international career spanning the United States, Europe, Asia and Australia. Widely regarded as Australia's premier jazz vocalist, Gregg is celebrated for his warm baritone, refined phrasing and charismatic stage presence, bringing timeless standards to life alongside his beautifully crafted original songs.

Gregg's years in the United States included a long-term residency at Herb Alpert's Vibrato Jazz Grill in Los Angeles, a close working relationship with Vincent Falcone, Frank Sinatra's

longtime musical director, and years performing together in the Las Vegas lounges with

pianist Tom Ranier, Tony Bennett's longtime accompanist, a collaboration that also produced

an album recorded at Capitol Records. He has performed at major venues including the

Sydney Opera House, State Theatre Sydney, City Recital Hall Sydney, Hamer Hall,

Melbourne Recital Centre and Singapore's Victoria Theatre. In 2018, he opened the

Melbourne International Jazz Festival for Branford Marsalis, and in 2023-24 he toured 23

concerts nationally with James Morrison and John Morrison's Swing City Big Band.

Gregg's TV concert special, Gregg Arthur: Live at City Recital Hall, produced by Australian Theatre Live (the company behind National Theatre Live-style broadcasts of Australia's finest stage work), premiered on SBS and is now part of Marquee TV's international jazz catalogue, joining a slate that includes Gregory Porter and Jamie Cullum. The concert

received a five-star review from Eric Myers of The Weekend Australian.

Gregg has been praised internationally for his smooth vocal style and lyrical sensitivity by

voices including Michael Parkinson on the BBC, Don Heckman in the Los Angeles Times,

Eric Myers in The Weekend Australian and John Shand in The Sydney Morning Herald, who wrote: "Most contemporary jazz singers would kill to pen songs the quality of Arthur's

originals." Tony Bennett himself once praised Gregg's phrasing as "perfection."

Gregg is currently in the mixing phase of a new album of original songs,

supported by Sound NSW.
